My first volunteer position was at Domestic Violence and Sexual Assault Services (DVSAS). I supported woman during rape exams and connected with a few to become an on-going advocate where we meet periodically to aid in their healing. After graduating, I joined Teen Link as a Youth Suicide Specialist teaching stress management to youth across King County. We taught a record number of 8,000 students and faculty how to notice warning signs for suicide and tips on how to intervene in a caring way. Even after leaving Teen Link, I continued to volunteer as a supervisor for their peer-to-peer helpline. My passion for teaching did not end there, I moved my way up at the University of Washington School of Medicine to Director of Operations for Curriculum. My analytical and driven personality aided me well as I assisted in the schools first curriculum renewal founded in interactive learning. As an attempt to maintain balance with my flourishing career, I began to practice yoga. After a short time practicing regularly, I fell in love with the flow and the elation I felt after class. It was the first time in my life where I was genuinely happy and my anxiety dissipated.
